“You Held My Hand So Very Tightly”

Phil Hughes 2.jpgSomething seems to have slipped my mind, and I previously forgot to mention it but, oh yeah, Phil Hughes got his first save!!!

Now not to put a downer on this post or anything but I was at the Yankee game yesterday which until like the 7th inning was a pretty cool game.  Both teams has no hitters going for the first couple of innings.  And Brett Gardner’s triple was pretty amazing, scoring Derek Jeter to give them the lead even if, only momentarily.  Derek didn’t start yesterday, in the field but he did as DH, and I don’t remember exactly when, but they pinch hit for Cody Ransom and Derek went in to play SS, and basically in short they lost the DH for the remainder of the game.

Okay so I was thoroughly confused when they first got Eric Hinske, and to be honest I had no problem with him, until I realized that they sent Ramiro Pena down to make room for him on the roster.  And now I know if I say I don’t like him, then everyone else goes, “why what did he do?”  That whole innocent before proven guilty thing.  Personally, however, I prefer that whole guilty before proven innocent, as far as I am concerned he has nbot done anything to cause me to like him enough that he should be on the roster rather than Ramiro Pena.

Totally off topic yesterday, at the game, on one of the screens between innings they were going through  highlights from the minor league affiliates and they showed something about Jesus Montero.  I don’t know if I have mentioned him before but he is a catcher in the minors for the Yankees and I fell in love with him at spring training last year (=P tehe).

“Can I Intrest You In A Sarcastic Comment?”

Ramon Castro.JPGSo as exhausted as I am from this past week of work, wait what was that, it’s only Thursday D=.  Anyway it has been a long week and I am so ready for the weekend.  Now I know that the Dodgers and the Yankees have both had awesome weeks but I would first like to give props to Mark Buerlhe (sp?)  for the throwing a perfect today, which is major YAY for him, however I personally love Ramon Castro, who I affectionately call Ramony, was catching.  I have missed him since the Mets traded him since he was really one of the few players on the Mets who I especially rooted for, since as you know while I don’t root against the Mets I do have stronger feelings toward some than others.  So in short this post is detecated to Ramony, who I miss very much.  Now I would be watching the Yankee game but the rain here once again doesn’t seem to stop here.

Other than that I will be at the Yankee game on Saturday, can’t wait.  So since this post is either really boring or I am really that out of it so I am going to stop writing now.

“But She Makes Me Want To Believe”

jose molina.gifAlright so it has been a few days since I updated, and I checked yesterday but didn’t have time to write an actual post so I am now.  Before that little baseball thing FIRST PLACE I wanted to thank the people who read and comment on my blog because it makes me happy to know that people actually read what I am writing and I just wanted people to know I do read your comments.

For Yankees, finally first place and now not that I am responsible or anything but I was at the game on Monday night, where Matsui hit that wonderful walk-off HR.  It was a really quick game, for a Yankee game anyway.  Most Yankee games are at least somewhere around 3hr long, if it is a Yankee/Red Sox game you would be lucky if it is that “short.”  Also this week the Dodgers became the first team to win 60 games.

p.s. I am watching Jeopardy and the returning winner looks like a young Fabio, and he is a camp counselor,  I don’t know why but I find that incredibly amusing.

p.p.s.  I really like the pepsi commercial with the new version of “Forever Young” and if anyone knows where I can that version it would make me happy if you tell me.

p.p.p.s. The title is the lyrics to the song “She Is Love” by Parachute VA which is like my new favorite song.

“Her Tears Like Diamonds On The Floor”

MikeMussina.jpgSo I realized that I had not updated in a little while so I thought that know would be a good time.  I don’t have much to say since it was the all star break not much has happened.  Tomorrow is the Yankees old timer day and guess who is going  to be there…MIKEYYY!!!!!!!!  Oh how I miss him. Other than that I am going to the game on Monday and am excited because I haven’t been to a Yankee game in a while.

On totally unrelated to baseball notes.  I can’t wait until Gossip Girl comes back, and until Greek comes back.  For now, however I have been keeping myself distracted by watching the TV show version of 10 Things I Hate About You, which actually isn’t that bad.

Time For A Vacation

jose molina.gifOkay so I first want to start off with some things that I forgot to mention yesterday.  First I have never worn the away teams hat to a game before and it was a lot of fun.  There were a lot of other Dodger fans in our section and I felt special.  Second thing that I forgot is that a foul ball landed right behind my seat and some old guy took it.

Now, I know that I have been discussing the Mets a lot and not the Yankees but I am very disappointed in the last two game since it is basically physically impossible for them to win against the Angels.  Just a couple notes about last nights game.  We went to the game when the gates opened so we got there right around 4:50 (actually 10 min after the gates open), it was lunchbox day so we all got lunchboxes.  Later I went down with my sister the Mets fan to the first couple of rows.  After the Mets stopped taking batting practice Mike Pelfry, my sister’s favorite player, came over to sign autgraphs.  Now my sister just happend to be wearing her Pelfry jersey so being the wonderful sister I am I held all her stuff for her and made her take off her jersey so that he could see it.  Now once she had been holding it up for a little while these two guys come over and go, “Come on, he has to sign his own jersey.”  And so while we tried to make our way farther up one of the guys already had so the said to give it to them and they would get it to him and they did, and they gave it back, and my sister now has a signed Mike Pelfry jersey.  Later in the already exciting pregame, my brother got a ball during batting practice which wasn’t nearly as exciting as what just happened but still cool.

Last thing about the game.  Now I am sure at this point most of you know that in the first inning Jay Bruce fractured his wrist.  What you may not know is that one of the new features in the stadium is that there are TVs all around the stadium playing the SNY broadcast throughout the game, so when SNY replayed the play where Bruce hurt himself you could hear an entire stadium 40,000 people groan in sympathy.  Now I don’t know if you have seen it but it looked bad.

p.s.  I got my umpire book, which I am major excited about.

He Got Booed, He Struck Out, He Got Ejeceted

citifield.jpgOkay so that is not the most grammatically correct title in the history of title’s but it is what happened on Tuesday night, well to Manny at least.  Now I did not actually see what led to the ejection, I had to get ice cream, but I got back just in time to see the actual ejection.  Which did make me happy considering I wanted to see Juan Pierre play in the first place especially since we were sitting in left field.

Now before I discuss Citi Field and how awesome the game was I would like to take a moment to mention the umpires.  Namely one umpire, John Hirshbeck who is the crew chief and happened to be the home plate umpire on Tuesday night.  Now we were sitting right next where the umpires come after the game and with my best puppy dog eyes and v-neck shirt I asked Mr. Hirshbeck very nicely for a baseball and he did not give me one.  So I would like to let the world no that John Hirshbeck is very low, right now, on the umpire groupie’s list of favorites.

Onto the game and stadium and stuff.  So as I hope everyone knows the Dodgers won 8-0.  Now the Dodgers being the best team in baseball and the Mets having almost all of their regualr starters on the DL this isn’t quite as impresive as it sounds, but it is still a win and everywin counts and the Dodgers played good baseball.  After the first inning Clayton Kershaw settled in and pitched very nicely, he had 24 pitches in the first.  Andre Ethier lookeed gorgeous as always, as did Russell Martin and I’m sure Chad Billingsley did too even if I didn’t see him.  On another note I would like to point out what good luck I seem to be for Joe Torre, the last time that he lost a game, as manager with me in the stadium, Yankees and Dodgers, was in 2006.  However sinse I am not willing to move to California, it seems that the Dodgers are just going to have to move back to Brooklyn.

Okay so Citi Field, well, okay, fine it is a gorgeous stadium the only problem is it doesn’t feel like a Mets stadium.  It has a generic ballpark look and feel.  They don’t the pictures of the players up everywhere like they did in Shea or they do in the new Yankee Stadium. Everything is just kind of plain.  If you had been blindfolded and plopped in your seat not knowing what city you are in, the stadium could easily be mistaken for the new Nationals Ballpark or Comerica Park.  There is nothing that makes the stadium feel unique until you walk back behind the scoreboard where they have the old city skyline from Shea with the red, white and blue ribbon over the Twin Towers, or when you walk down the next flight of stairs to find the old HR apple.  Those are the things that make a stadium unique and in this case they are hiding them away, like they are ashamed or they want to conform.  I think one of the great things about the Mets was that they were never a team that was going to conform to anyone else but instead they brought together all these great things to make a unique one.  They are the only team in baseball to combine other teams to make their own.  They wear Dodger blue and Giants orange in honor of the old New York teams and they have their own pinstriped uniforms in honor of the current New York teams.  Now don’t get me wrong I am still a Yankee fan and like when Willie Randolph brought some Yankee to Mets but I would never want the Mets to be anything other than what they have always been.

p.s.  I am off to Citi Field again tonight to see them play the Reds.

It’s Only Been 5 Days??

Joe Torre.jpgOkay so first to explain the title I am a counselor at a day camp and I am incredibly tired and I just realized that I have only been doing this for five days =’(.  So I am currently watching the replay of the Yankee Game from this afternoon since I do not know what happened since I didn’t get to see it.  Eric Hinske just hit a HR and I have know idea who he is.  *RANDOM NOTE*  I am so sick of these Geico cavemen commercials, I mean seriously we get it already ‘It’s so easy a caveman can do it’ and apparently the cavemen that are still around are offended.*AHHHH*  Anyway I though I should definetly post before the game tomorrow since I am going right from work in hopes of seeing some of batting practice.

Anyway today Joe Torre had a celebirty golf tournament to raise money for his charity Safe At Home.  After growing up in an abusive household Torre started the foundation to try and help people living in abusive homes and to stop the abuse.

On a lighter note, they started filming Gossip Girl season 3 last week which makes me very happy.

Dodgers TOMORROW!!!

F-F-Fee-ee-ee-ny!!!

Matt Kemp and Russell Martin.jpgJust a quick little update I wanted to make sure everyone knew to vote for the final roster spots.  Now if it were up to me I would make sure everyone votes for Matt Kemp and Ian Kinsler.  This is the best I can do to try and get you to vote for them.  That’s all for now.

p.s. The title is a quote from Boy Meets World.

“Note To Self Don’t Change For Anyone”

In honor of the fact that the All Star rosters are announced today I am going to let you in on a little secret, who I voted for.  I don’t know if I am spelling all these names wrong or something but my computer says they are all wrong so I apologize if they are but you know who I mean.  Note I only say if they are starting some of the players who aren’t starting are on the rosters.

AL:
     C- Joe Mauer (MIN)-ON
    1B- Mark Texiera (NYY)-ON
    2B- Roby Cano (NYY)-OFF
    SS- Derek Jeter (NYY)-ON
    3B- Evan Longoria (TB)-ON
OF- Xaiver Nady (NYY) (I know he is on the DL and there is now no chance)-OFF
          Josh Hamilton (TEX)-ON
          Bobby Abreu (LAA)-OFF
NL:
     C- Russell Martin (LAD)-OFF
    1B- James Loney (LAD)-OFF
    2B- Orlando Hudson (LAD)-OFF
    3B- Blake Dewitt (LAD)-OFF
    OF- Andre Eithier(LAD)-OFF
           Ryan Church(NYM)-OFF
           Ryan Braun(MIL)-ON
Okay so my votes may have been influenced by the teams I root for and the hotness factor *cough cough* Joe Mauer *cough cough*.  Personally I think that Phil Hughes should be one of the pitchers for the AL, and I am not at all biased.

Now having completely nothing to do with the All Star game.  I really don’t like these red hats, I mean for teams like the Phillies and the Red Sox where they wear red hats anyway they don’t look awful.  They look terrible on the Yankees though and majorly clash with the uniforms. *RANDOM NOTE* they are interviewing Evan Longoria right now on TBS and I never realised how HOT he was.  Other than that Jose Molina is supposed to start rehabbing like today or something, all of a sudden I seem to have forgotten.  Other than that in TV news I have discovered that I like the show The Next Food Network Star, I feel the need to mention TV in every post and haven’t in a while.  I also have a question if anyone has any idea how to use iMovie and wants to explain it I would me very grateful.

Dodgers in 2 days =D!!!

p.s.  To add to my Michael Kay is an idiot remark from yesterday he just mentioned the players going to the All Star game and the fact that A-Rod isn’t starting.  He says that with his injury and surgery have been keeping his votes down, ah no, it is the same reason that Manny will not be starting in the All Star game, because no one is voting for these guys after all the steriod business. *DOY* Okay let me add to this he just said that it is wrong that Josh Hamilton is the starting Center Fielder.  And now he ois saying that if this game really matters than why would they let the fans vote.  And thank you to David Cone for defending the fans.

p.p.s.  Yadier is an All Star which is good enough, if Jose can’t be at least his brother can be.

p.p.p.s. The title is the lyrics to the song “Note To Self: Don’t Die”  by Ryan Adams.

The First Official Umpire Groupie Post (Cont.)

Okay back to finish up, but first since it is the 4th of July, Happy 4th of July!!!  It doesn’t feel like the it to me because my town had the fireworks yesterday so today doesn’t seem so special.  Now back to those umpires I actually don’t have much more to say about that little TV special and I was hoping that by now I would have the umpire book but I don’t.  However I was looking at some other things that only umpire groupies would look at and I realized that I have not yet seen a game with Laz Diaz which made me sad because he has the most awesome umpire name ever.  Also on the umpire front the two guys who are going around to all the stadiums were at Yankee Stadium yesterday in their umpire outfits and that made me happy.

Now for something that never makes me happy,  Michael Kay.  I know I have mentioned this before but for some reason right now he is really driving me insane.  If I had the power I would fire him on grounds of idiocy.  I don’t think that I have ever heard anyone as stupid as him talk so much about something that he knows so little about.  It drives me INSANE.  If I could announce the game I would.  It’s not like okay he is not the greatest announcer but at least he is trying, no he is just so awful.  He never has anything nice to say about the other team, he doesn’t even stick up for the Yankees who maybe have a bad day.  It is just all negative or it is all, ‘they are the greatest team in history’, ‘they are legendary’, ‘no one could ever be as good as the precious Yankees’  seriously I am a Yankee fan but they are not the greatest thing since sliced bread and there are teams that are better than they are, they cannot always be the best.

Okay so that little rant was fun, very therapeutic, to just get everything out.
