See You In October

Celebration.jpgWE DID IT!!!!!

Okay so we didn't do it, but the Yankees did, and hey, they have the best fans in the world right?  I hope that their luck continues into October and wish the whole team all the best.

"Make Me Wanna Spread My Arms And Fly"

rookie hazing.jpgHey everyone, look at that two posts in less then 24 hours.  This post is really quick I just wanted to update and everyone that I got a twitter if the link doesn't work you can search for Aliegator65.  The 65 is for Phil Hughes in case you didn't get that.

The Dodgers lost yesterday :( so they didn't clinch but they have another chance today.  Yesterday was a good day in Yankee land and hopefully that will continue today and tomorrow.

Umpire Groupie Update:

Let's play guess the Welke.  In the series this weekend the Welke brother's, Tim and Bill, are umpiring and last night Tim was at HP and Bill was at 3B.  This afternoon Jeff Kellogg will be behind the plate.

"And I Don't Have A Future Figured Out"

glee.jpgFirst things first I would just like to mention how much I am loving the show Glee.  Seriously if you are not watching this show you should be, there is nothing like it on television and it is just amazing.  As I write this post I am listening to their version of "Somebody to Love" and it is just one of the most amazing things that I have ever heard.  Continuing to avoid the topic of baseball at the moment, I will continue with a TV update and then discuss a little baseball.  Dancing with the Stars premiered this week and as a child of the 90s I am obligated to be a fan of Aaron Carter, but who I really like is Debi Mazar and only like 2/3 of that is because I LOVE her partner Maks (see picture slightly farther down).  Now Greek and Gossip Girl are also still great but they have both been on for a few weeks now so I do not feel the same need to update on them.

Now that little thing that we call baseball.  First, not quite baseball yet but completely related, this week on Jay Leno's new show Jennifer Garner was on and he had her name the Red Sox line up and then took out a picture of Derek Jeter and , basically, said that she didn't like and he was her least favorite.  Now honestly I don't care what she thinks and I have no real opinion on her or her life, but you see it shows the difference between Red Sox fans and Yankees fans.  When it is a player who is in general such a stand up guy like Derek is you have to give him credit for that even though they are on the other team.  Slightly different, my dad is a livelong Mets fan and always will be but he sees guys like Derek Jeter and Johnny Damon and he is able to realize that while they may be an opposing team they still are, or at least seem to be good guys.  I will never be a Red Sox fan and have been a Yankee fan my whole life but if someone asks me about Terry Francona I can honestly tell them that I think he is one of the best managers in baseball.

MAKS.jpgAll right so actual baseball now.  If the Dodgers win tonight they clinch a playoff spot and well we all know what could happen by the end of the weekend but I that is all I am saying because I don't want to jinx anything.

p.s.  The title is the lyrics from the song "Taking Chances" the Glee Cast version of this is also AH-MAZING!!!

p.p.s.  I don't remember if I explained the number in the last post but it is a count down to my 18th birthday!!!

p.p.p.s.  I am really hoping that my dad can get tickets to the post season and if he does I will see you there.

p.p.p.p.s. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend Ellen who turned 18 yesterday!!!

p.p.p.p.p.s.  Since the post is already so long I thought that I would mention how long this post is.

"You Put On Quite A Show Really Had Me Going"

Phil Hughes 2.jpgOkay so I know that it has been a while but going to college can throw a girl off her game.  Anyways last night was not the best night for my teams since they both lost and all but this week had some pretty good news, well you could put it that way.  The 2010 schedules came out this week and the Dodgers will be in NY in April and I already told my dad so that as soon as tickets are available he can get them.  However the real news is that during inter-league play the Yankees and the Dodgers play each other.  They play in California so I won't actually be able to go to any of the games but I can already anticipate the amount of stress I will be under for those three days.

Umpire Groupie Update:

Laz Diaz is umpiring in the Yankees-Mariners series!!!

I don't really have much else to say right now, but if I think of anything I will definitely come back.  Also I think that everyone should remember to watch Gossip Girl, Greek, Glee, and Dancing with the Stars.

p.s.  The title is the lyrics from "Take a Bow" which was originally sung by RIhanna but the Glee version is amazing!!

p.p.s.  Another reason to watch Glee is because the character Tina is played by Jenna Ushkowitz, who I not only saw in Spring Awakening on Broadway, making her very talented but, she also had been on the Yankees on Deck show for a couple seasons.

"Please Say Honestly You Won't Give Up On Me"

jeter and molina.jpgI am very sorry for the lack of updates lately however I have been insanely busy.  I am taking time now though, in the midst of packing, to update on something that occurred about a week ago.  First, however,  update on the teams of which I root for.  The Yankees have continued to play amazingly amazing baseball and have already eliminated the Baltimore Orioles and the Blue Jays elimination number is down to 5 games.  The Dodgers have still not been doing nearly as good as they did the first half of the season but they have improved slightly.  The race between them and the Rockies and Giants is still really close though, and it would be a lot more comforting if they could just get some sort of cushion.

Umpire Groupie Update

AKA..my news:  Last week I went to a Yankee game, my last one before I go to school :(,  and the 2B umpire was non-other than, the one, the only, the amazing LAZ DIAZ!!!  That was the coolest thing I had seen this season, tied with the Dodgers-Mets game I went to.  My dad found it incredibly amusing that I was disappointed in the fact that my cousins had been to the game two days earlier when Laz was the homeplate umpire.

p.s.  This will be the last post with the above class of '09 thing since I start school next week.

p.p.s.  The title is the lyrics from the song "I Shall Believe" by Sheryl Crow.

"Believe In Yourself For That's The Place To Start"

Phil Hughes.jpgSorry for the lack of updates, been a little busy with getting ready for school and stuff.  I am now in the middle of Red Sox Nation for vacation. Anyways things haven't been going to well for the Dodgers and I rather not discuss it.  I am hoping that if I pretend I don't notice it will all just go away.

On the Yankees side of things, it has all been going a lot better.  They now lead the division by like 7 games (Yay!!!) and even though they lost last night its okay.

Sadder news the other day did not go well.  If you haven't heard by now you have clearly been living under a rock.  Three players got hit in the head in one day.  That's insane.  David Wright got hit in the head by a pitch, he had a concussion and is now on the DL, a long with the rest of the Mets starters.  Later in the day Ian Kinsler was hit with a pitch, he however was able to take his base and play again the next day.  And then once again Hiroki Kuroda was hit in the head with a line drive, he had to be taken off the field on a stretcher and was also diagnosed with a concussion.  He is expected to miss his next start.

"This Ain't All It's Cracked Up To Be"

Laz Diaz.jpgOkay so I know it has been 10 days since my last update but i have been crazy busy shopping for college stuff and completely exhausted from camp, so I haven't really had the time.  However I am here now and would love to catch up on everything I can remember at the moment.  I am watching the Yankees lose to the Red Sox again and hopefully by the time I am done typing this post the Yankees will have turned the game around and won...I hope I didn't jinx it.

So somewhat not related to baseball and yet still related.  At camp next week we have carnival and to play the games and stuff you have to get special tickets.  So on the bus we play trivia and my brother was the last one left who had not gotten all the possible tickets.  I started asking my brother random question but he could not get most of them, since he did not get those I started asking questions about baseball.  Like, in my opinion who is the most attractive player on the Dodgers? (Andre Ethier or Chad Billingsely)  Who is my favorite pitcher? (Phil Hughes)

Umpire Groupie Update:
I still have not seen Laz Diaz this season which is really disappointing me.  Making up for it right now is that Darryl Cousins is the homeplate umpire in the Yankee game and his crew was also in the last Mets series and Angel Hernandez was in the last Dodgers series.  On that note the listed umpiring crews on the MLB website are completely wrong since the Welke brothers are supposed to be in the same crew as Hernandez but he isn't.

"You Held My Hand So Very Tightly"

Phil Hughes 2.jpgSomething seems to have slipped my mind, and I previously forgot to mention it but, oh yeah, Phil Hughes got his first save!!!

Now not to put a downer on this post or anything but I was at the Yankee game yesterday which until like the 7th inning was a pretty cool game.  Both teams has no hitters going for the first couple of innings.  And Brett Gardner's triple was pretty amazing, scoring Derek Jeter to give them the lead even if, only momentarily.  Derek didn't start yesterday, in the field but he did as DH, and I don't remember exactly when, but they pinch hit for Cody Ransom and Derek went in to play SS, and basically in short they lost the DH for the remainder of the game.

Okay so I was thoroughly confused when they first got Eric Hinske, and to be honest I had no problem with him, until I realized that they sent Ramiro Pena down to make room for him on the roster.  And now I know if I say I don't like him, then everyone else goes, "why what did he do?"  That whole innocent before proven guilty thing.  Personally, however, I prefer that whole guilty before proven innocent, as far as I am concerned he has nbot done anything to cause me to like him enough that he should be on the roster rather than Ramiro Pena.

Totally off topic yesterday, at the game, on one of the screens between innings they were going through  highlights from the minor league affiliates and they showed something about Jesus Montero.  I don't know if I have mentioned him before but he is a catcher in the minors for the Yankees and I fell in love with him at spring training last year (=P tehe).

"Can I Intrest You In A Sarcastic Comment?"

Ramon Castro.JPGSo as exhausted as I am from this past week of work, wait what was that, it's only Thursday D=.  Anyway it has been a long week and I am so ready for the weekend.  Now I know that the Dodgers and the Yankees have both had awesome weeks but I would first like to give props to Mark Buerlhe (sp?)  for the throwing a perfect today, which is major YAY for him, however I personally love Ramon Castro, who I affectionately call Ramony, was catching.  I have missed him since the Mets traded him since he was really one of the few players on the Mets who I especially rooted for, since as you know while I don't root against the Mets I do have stronger feelings toward some than others.  So in short this post is detecated to Ramony, who I miss very much.  Now I would be watching the Yankee game but the rain here once again doesn't seem to stop here.

Other than that I will be at the Yankee game on Saturday, can't wait.  So since this post is either really boring or I am really that out of it so I am going to stop writing now.

"But She Makes Me Want To Believe"

jose molina.gifAlright so it has been a few days since I updated, and I checked yesterday but didn't have time to write an actual post so I am now.  Before that little baseball thing FIRST PLACE I wanted to thank the people who read and comment on my blog because it makes me happy to know that people actually read what I am writing and I just wanted people to know I do read your comments.

For Yankees, finally first place and now not that I am responsible or anything but I was at the game on Monday night, where Matsui hit that wonderful walk-off HR.  It was a really quick game, for a Yankee game anyway.  Most Yankee games are at least somewhere around 3hr long, if it is a Yankee/Red Sox game you would be lucky if it is that "short."  Also this week the Dodgers became the first team to win 60 games.

p.s. I am watching Jeopardy and the returning winner looks like a young Fabio, and he is a camp counselor,  I don't know why but I find that incredibly amusing.

p.p.s.  I really like the pepsi commercial with the new version of "Forever Young" and if anyone knows where I can that version it would make me happy if you tell me.

p.p.p.s. The title is the lyrics to the song "She Is Love" by Parachute VA which is like my new favorite song.
